On a foggy Monday afternoon last October I landed at Vagar airport. My face was glued to the aircraft window, as I was taking in the incredible vistas laying below me. I was finally in the Faroe Islands! I was joining a group of enthusiastic amateur landscape photographers and two pros who were going to guide us for the next 6 days. The trip had been two year in the waiting since I signed up for it and because of you know what it got postponed and postponed again but here I was giddy and so happy!

First a few facts: the Faroe Islands is a self-governing region within the Kingdom of Denmark which is situated in the middle in the North Atlantic Ocean halfway between Scotland and Iceland. They are made of 18 volcanic islands separated by narrow sounds and fjords. All but one are inhabited. A total of 52'000 people live there; its capital Tórshavn is the smallest European capital with 20'000 inhabitants.

Landcapes are rugged, weather is pretty rough most of the time, houses are few and far apart. All of this makes for photographers heaven.

There are quite a few iconic places to photograph but everywhere you look the views are stunning and each area is unique. Dranganir is quite famous though and those rocks are what everyone would like to capture and get a good image of. We hiked 7 km to get there; first in heavy rain then in a combination of thick clouds and fog and moments of sunlight peeking thorough, a typical day. It was breathtaking to finally see the rocks from above as we were getting closer. Eventually we got blessed with a beautiful sunset
